Cocker Spaniels

CockerSpanielCocker Spaniels are member of the sporting group of dogs. They were originally bred to hunt in the English countryside.  The American Cocker Spaniel is considered a separate breed from the larger English variety.

Weighing in at only 20 to 35 pounds and at height of approximately 12 to 16 inches this is a good dog for a household pet.  Cocker Spaniels are very adaptable and will be equally happy jogging beside you or lounging at home.  They are normally good with strangers and quick to learn.

Cocker SpanielCocker Spaniels have a small well balanced body, beautiful, silky coat and long ears.  They come in black, tan, cream, and combinations of these colors.  Their silky coats need regular brushing and washing.

Cocker Spaniels can live to around 15 years of age.  Health problems can include skin and spinal problems, and eye problems such as cataracts or glaucoma.

As with any pet make sure it gets plenty of exercise to keep it healthy.  Regular trips to the veterinarian to check for health issues should be a part of any pet lifestyle.
